DIRECTORS IN TYA – An International Exchange

DIRECTORS IN TYA – An International Exchange is an entire week dedicated to the art of directing in performing arts for young audiences. Participants can meet directors from all around the world, exchange ideas, learn from other professionals, and experience Theatre for Young Audiences in Germany.

The DIRECTORS IN TYA – An International Exchange, also known worldwide as the “International Directors’ Seminar”, takes place every two years. It is aimed at directors who are (mostly freelance) artists in the field of TYA, and is open to all genres and types of performing arts for young audiences.

The „Directors‘ Seminar“ has a long history, dating back to 1976 in the GDR, where artists in TYA wanted to find ways to cross borders and communicate during the Cold War era, with its associated ideological barriers.

In 2023, DIRECTORS IN TYA – An International Exchange took place at the Hessische Landestheater Marburg (HLTM) from the 18th to the 25th of June.

In 2025, DIRECTORS IN TYA – An International Exchange will take place at FUNDUS THEATER | Forschungstheater Hamburg
